The Wastewater Advisory Committee (WAC) to the MWRA is seeking a Professional Engineer licensed in Massachusetts and living in Massachusetts for membership on the WAC.
Preference for Professional Engineers with a background in water (civil) or energy technology, but will consider resumes Professional Engineers in other disciplines such as electrical or mechanical.
The Wastewater Advisory Committee (WAC) is an independent forum for discussion of wastewater issues that affect MWRA and its member communities. WAC needs PE members, licensed in MA, who do not have conflicts of interest to apply for appointment by the MWRA Board. The WAC meets on the first Friday of the month from 10:30am -12:30pm except in July, August and December. Meetings are usually at the MAPC offices, 60 Temple Place, Boston, near Downtown Crossing, but will be virtual until in-person meetings are required. Title: Member, Wastewater Advisory Committee
Reports to: WAC Chair
Purpose: Attend a minimum of 7 of WAC’s 9 meetings, discuss and vote on recommendations to the MWRA or outside regulators.
Term: 2 years; opportunity for re-appointment for another 2 year term by MWRA Board; opportunity to serve as an officer.
WAC reimburses for member parking or transit fare used to attend meetings or tours.
NOTE:
WAC members are special state employees under the Conflict of Interest Law (G.L. c. 268A) and there may be limitations or restrictions on membership if you or your employer does business with the MWRA or other state agencies. For example, public employees are restricted from participating in their public positions in matters in which they, their immediate family members, or a business with which they are affiliated has a financial interest. In some cases, the Conflict of Interest Law establishes a strict prohibition, while in other cases, the restriction may be cured through a disclosure and/or approval. Any specific conflict of interest will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. However, it is important to keep this in mind as you consider applying for membership.
