Can The Engineering Center Education Trust recommend using a particular engineering or land surveying firm for a specific service?

While TECET staff and our member associations cannot specifically recommend a firm to someone requesting a particular service, we can give you some helpful resources.

The ACEC/MA Membership Directory has two sections:

1. ACEC/MA Full Member FIrms, including Non-Resident FIrms: These are engineering and land surveying firms, including firms with expertise in:  structural, geotechnical, environmental, transportation, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, energy, and other areas.  Search the descriptions for the services you need.
2. ACEC/MA Affiliate Member Firms:  These are firms that provide professional services (other than engineering and land surveying) or non-professional services that complement the services of ACEC Full Member firms, including: architecture, landscape architectur, insurance, employee benefits, finance and accounting, construction management, construction, scientific and technology support.
    

National Search:  Find information firms throughout the US on the ACEC national web site at www.acec.org. Search by state or speciality to find firms.  ACEC and ACEC/MA Member Firms subscribe to the Code of Professional Conduct of the American Council of Engineering Companies and meet the State requirements for practicing consulting engineering or land surveying. 

Members of the Massachusetts Association of Land Surveyors and Civil Engineers (MALSCE) Proprietors Council 

A Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) is uniquely qualified by education and experience. He or she has become registered by passing a series of Massachusetts Land Surveyors examinations. Only a Professional Land Surveyor duly registered by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (see 250 CMR) is legally permitted to perform land surveys in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  Be sure to look for a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) who is licensed in the state where your property is located.

While TECET and MALSCE cannot specifically recommend a firm to someone requesting a particular service, Proprietors Council membes are also members of the Massachusetts Association of Land Surveyors and Civil Engineers (MALSCE), subscribe to the Code of Professional Conduct of MALSCE  and have chosen to join the Proprietors' Council.

Searchable Database at the Board of Registration

In the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the Board of Registration of Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors establishes, monitors and enforces qualifying standards for the engineering and land surveying professions. The Board works to insure that persons practicing in these professions are competent to practice and are not endangering the life, health, safety and welfare of the public.  It is part of state government and is part of the Division of Professional Licensure, an agency within the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation with 31 boards of registration regulating nearly 50 trades and professions. 

Search for Professional Engineers or Professional Land Surveyors in your community on the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors website link above.

Search by municipality or by name in the searchable database.  If you search by municipality, the site will give you names of all the Professional Engineers or Professional Land Surveyors who live in the community or who have their license renewals sent to a location in the community.  You then need to search the Web or a phone book for their contact information.
