Virtual Meeting – Zoom platform
12:00PM – 1:00PM
Speaker:
Paul Kassabian, PE
Principal, SGH
We are at an exciting time in the design and construction profession. With computational design and automation, we provide more and better technical information for projects than ever before. However, with that, we require a different skill set from our engineers; one which the typical academic degree and subsequent PE exam does not currently provide. In this talk, Paul will provide a review of automation and its effect on our profession, examples of current computational automation of engineering tasks, and thoughts on where education and training for engineers should go from here. Paul Kassabian is a Principal at SGH and specializes in structural design and investigation on a wide range of structural systems, from buildings for architects to projects on the cutting edge of both structural systems and materials. He develops innovative methods of design and construction using SGH’s in-house materials lab, computational design approaches, and digital fabrication techniques. He is the practice leader of the SGH Digital Lab.
