Today’s Energy Environment
Offshore Wind (OFW) is a new energy solution that is being developed and deployed in North America. This technology has matured in Europe and is now finding public acceptance and technical solutions to meet the growing demand in North America for renewable and green sources of energy.
There is much complexity regarding grid compliance equipment required to provide reactive power support for these inverter-based generation sources. A federally-governed regulatory process exists for the development of energy sources in the Outer Continental Shelf.
This presentation will review:
- The general industry trends for OFW growth in North America
- The regulatory environment and challenges
- Design considerations
- Solutions, including financial impacts and cost of energy for consumers
- The GE Renewable Energy portfolio that addresses this market segment
