Zoom Webinar
12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
Speaker:
Peter Nardini, PE, P.Eng.
Senior Project Manager, Simpson Gumpertz & Heger
Owners of water and wastewater pipeline systems across the country have implemented asset management programs that include the inspection, analysis, and repair of large diameter transmission mains and pipelines on treatment plant sites. Pipelines within the scope are a variety of materials and tend to include prestressed concrete cylinder pipe (PCCP), reinforced concrete cylinder pipe (RCCP), cast iron pipe (CIP), and steel pipe. The technologies used for pipe inspection vary for each material and consist of electromagnetic, leak detection, acoustic wave-based stiffness testing, broadband electromagnetic inspection, low-frequency pulsed eddy current inspection, and closed-circuit television. Failure risk analysis of the pipelines is used to narrow the massive scope to particular areas for further inspection and specific pipes in need of repair.
This webinar identifies the inspection technologies that can be used for each pipe material, reviews the types of inspection data obtained from each inspection technology, and discusses how the inspection data can be used to analyze the risk of failure for pipes of various materials.
