MassDOT requires the bridges in the Commonwealth to be load rated using the same methodology used for their design. All new bridges in the recent years have been designed using the Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) method. Load rating for those bridges thus needs to be developed using Load and Resistance Factor Rating (LRFR) method. This webinar will cover the fundamentals of LRFR method for load rating bridges. Various levels of load rating and their processes will be discussed. It will also introduce the participants to the recently added AASHTO Legal Loads and Emergency Vehicles in the MassDOT LRFD Bridge Manual.
