This one day seminar will introduce attendees to how research, boundary law and field work are synthesized by Land Surveyors to arrive at defensible boundary determinations. This seminar will also introduce basic rules of evidence and boundary determination concepts essential to the boundary determination process. Special research topics such as unwritten transfers of land and ancient ways will also be discussed. Massachusetts specific issues that impact boundary determination such as water boundaries and Land Court will be touched upon. The instructor will also discuss the NSPS Body of Knowledge for Surveyors and the education, exam and experience requirements for Massachusetts licensing.
This seminar, which can be taken individually, is the second part of a two-part series for surveying technicians. Part I entitled “Introduction to Boundary Law and Research for Surveying Technicians” was offered on August 19, 2016. This seminar is not intended for practicing Land Surveyors nor is it intended to meet continuing education requirements for practicing Land Surveyors.
